Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about MyLoopX's vehicle surrender program and e-waste disposal services.

🚗 Vehicle Surrender Program

Is vehicle surrender really free?
Yes! MyLoopX partners with municipal councils to offer 100% free collection of abandoned or end-of-life vehicles. No hidden fees, no towing charges—completely zero cost to you.
How long does the collection process take?
48 hours on average. We guarantee collection within 48 hours of verification. Most vehicles are collected within 24 hours for Klang Valley locations.
What types of vehicles can I surrender?
You can surrender passenger cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, and bicycles. Condition doesn't matter.
Do I need to be the registered owner?
Yes, or have written authorization. You must be the registered vehicle owner or have authorization from the owner.
Can I surrender a vehicle with outstanding summons?
Yes, but outstanding summons may be deducted from scrap value.
What about vehicles with active loans or hire purchase?
Bank clearance required first. Vehicles under financing cannot be surrendered until you obtain release from the lender.
Will I receive any compensation for my vehicle?
No, this is voluntary surrender for responsible disposal. Your benefit is free removal and legal clearance.

📄 Process & Documentation

What documents do I need to surrender my vehicle?
Required documents:
  • Vehicle registration card (grant) or copy
  • IC (NRIC) of registered owner
  • GPS location and photos of the vehicle
  • Authorization letter (if you're not the registered owner)
All documents can be uploaded digitally through the MyLoopX platform.
How do I prove the vehicle is at the stated location?
GPS + Photo verification. When submitting your request, you'll upload photos of the vehicle showing its current condition and surroundings. The MyLoopX app captures GPS coordinates automatically. Municipal officers verify the location before collection.
What is the Certificate of Destruction?
The Certificate of Destruction is an official document issued by MyEG after your vehicle has been disposed of. It confirms:
  • Vehicle has been legally dismantled
  • You are no longer liable for the vehicle
  • JPJ will deregister the vehicle from national records
  • You cannot be held responsible for any future incidents involving this vehicle
This certificate is downloadable from your MyLoopX dashboard.
How is JPJ notified about the disposal?
Automatic integration. MyLoopX is integrated with JPJ's systems. Once your vehicle is disposed of, JPJ is automatically notified and begins the deregistration process. You don't need to visit JPJ offices or submit paperwork manually.

🏛️ Municipal Councils & Coverage

Which areas are covered by this program?
Currently active councils:
  • MPAJ - Ampang Jaya (pilot program)
  • DBKL - Kuala Lumpur
  • MBSA - Shah Alam
  • MPPJ - Petaling Jaya
📍 Nationwide rollout coming in 2025! More councils are joining the program monthly. Check back regularly or contact us to request your area.
My vehicle is outside participating areas. What can I do?
Contact your local council. If your area isn't covered yet, encourage your municipal council to join MyLoopX. Provide them our contact information (partnership@myloopx.my) and share this FAQ. Many councils are evaluating the program based on public demand.
Why don't councils just remove abandoned vehicles themselves?
Legal complexity. Under current law, councils must:
  1. Issue official notice to the registered owner
  2. Wait for mandatory grace period (60-90 days)
  3. Obtain court order if owner doesn't respond
  4. Pay legal fees (RM 2,000-5,000 per vehicle)
This process takes 6-12 months per vehicle. Voluntary surrender bypasses all of this! No court orders needed when owners cooperate willingly.

♻️ Scrapyard Auctions & Recycling

What happens to my vehicle after collection?
Your vehicle goes through this process:
  1. Collection: Towed to municipal depot
  2. Cataloging: Photographed and added to auction lots
  3. Auction: Licensed scrapyards bid on the lot
  4. Dismantling: Winning scrapyard dismantles vehicle
  5. Recycling: 95% of materials are recovered (metal, rubber, plastics, glass)
  6. Certificate: MyEG issues Certificate of Destruction
Are the scrapyards regulated?
Yes, strictly certified. Only licensed and environmentally-compliant scrapyards can participate in MyLoopX auctions. They must:
  • Hold valid DOE (Department of Environment) permits
  • Follow proper hazardous waste disposal protocols
  • Maintain environmental compliance records
  • Submit regular audit reports
How transparent are the scrapyard auctions?
Fully transparent. All auctions are conducted digitally on the MyLoopX platform. Bid histories are recorded, and councils can see all competing offers. This prevents corruption and ensures fair market value for scrap metal.

Does MyLoopX handle e-waste too?

  2. Physically destroy hard drives and SSDs
  3. Provide video evidence of destruction
